The Wood Sprite, aka Mother Nature, is the life force of the forest. She is blithely treading her way through the flames to ensure those pine cones (see lower center) and seeds that need high heat in order to open, and thus germinate, are enabled. The fire weed beside the cone is usually the first vegetation to appear after a fire.

    The sgraffito depicts the birth, growth and eventual rebirth of the forest. Note the lightning strike as a natural cause of fire.

    The lace (bottom) indicates the earth with the potential plant life within and life is reborn ------ a Continuum!
